I’m Lenore Hirsch.

Welcome to my website. I hope you find some fun reading, photos, and maybe even are inspired to buy one of my books.

I grew up on the east coast and escaped to California after getting a degree in French. I worked in the corporate world for a short while and then left my beloved San Francisco to get a Masters in Teaching at the University of Chicago.

For 31 years, I taught, mostly learning-disabled middle schoolers, then became an administrator. I moved to Napa in 1992 to be an elementary school principal and finished my career here in 2000. I always loved writing and even before retirement had begun writing my dog’s “memoir.” That became My Leash on Life, notable because it has Foxy’s “voice.” Foxy, the dog who calls people two-legs.

In the 13 years since I published my first book, I have created collections of poetry, humorous essays about aging and short stories, as well as a fun novel which contains many real-life experiences from my educational career. One of my readers commented that my writing travels the wide spectrum of “relationships and unexpected encounters that shape people’s lives.”
